Sooners Make Good Competitors
The Sooners have 17 varsity teams. The teams play in the Big 12’s South Division.
The University of Oklahoma is often ranked high on the best college programs in the country. It should come to no surprise that things like Sooners bedding have sold exponentially as a result.
The Sooners were a part of the Big Six Conference, which only had a total of six teams in it. Oklahoma Sooners clothing has changed somewhat as a result.
They were a part of the conference when it became the Big Eight Conference. They also were a part when the conference was renamed the Big 12 Conference after 4 more teams were added.
The Sooners have played college football since the 19th century. The Sooners have won many bowl games as well as 41 conference championships. They won seven AP National Championships. As a result of their success, Oklahoma Sooners fan gear and other merchandise has sold at a good rate each year.
Oklahoma is known for their high-powered offense. They have played about 60 fewer games than the second place team, but they have outscored them in points. Since the AP poll started in 1936, Oklahoma has the highest win percent of all teams.
The Sooners have 7 championships in football. This is the second most of all Division I schools since World War II. The college does not recognize any of the other 9 championships because none of the credible polls like the USA Today Coaches Poll, the BCS Poll, the AP Poll or the United Press International, had them at the top. The school set a Division 1 record with 47 wins in a row. The streak started and ended in the 1950s.
